Insight into the Author
Gabrielle Vogel
After getting used to living a perfunctory life that seemed to function well for Gabrielle Vogel, facing terror would eventually change her perspective on life forever.
Her life took a hard turn when she was held at gunpoint at her own home, leaving her with crippling fear that emerged in sudden moments as the fear of escaping a living hell haunted her.
“I had instances of panic when I was out and about from triggers related to the holdup. Sporadic, crazy, and spontaneous moments occurred when I just wanted to grab my three kids and run.”
After struggling with PTSD for a year after the incident, Gabrielle Vogel discovered the power of positive thinking as she was healing from trauma. With the help of positive affirmations for self-acceptance, she was able to reinvent her life using mind growth while finding inner strength and confidence to believe in herself once again.
“My rebuild brought about change. Change that was so necessary for self-love, respect, abundance, positivity, gratitude, and joy.”
From that moment forward, Gabrielle Vogel went from complex PTSD to surviving to thriving as she rebooted her life one day at a time.
It was then her undeniable passion to help improve the lives of people that inspired her to help communities living in the slums. In 2017 she visited The Ruben Centre in Nairobi – a non-profit organisation that helps the Mukuru community in Nairobi; providing quality education, health and social services to children and families in the area.
As the author found her true self throughout this journey, she began documenting her new insights, which eventually led her to the completion of her first book project as of now, Life After Gunpoint.
Today she proudly carries a Kairos symbol tattoo – an ancient Greek name meaning the right or opportune moment. However, the meaning (for her) became ‘a unique moment in time, that would change her life on many levels forever’.
